Overland Park, Kan. (Via U.S. Youth Futsal) – U.S. Youth Futsal has announced the schedule and coaching staff for its 2016 National I.D. Camp, which will take place from July 7-9 in New Century and Overland Park, Kan.

The event brings together the top players born between 1998-2005 from across the country who have attended regional identification camps in seven cities throughout the past eight months.

Led by U.S. Youth Futsal Director of Coaching Ty Stauffer and Director of Goalkeeping Otto Orf, players will participate in two training sessions and five games during the five-day camp. More than 420 players from 29 states will be guided by 20 coaches from 13 states. Kansas sends 57 players, while California (48), Ohio (32), Massachusetts (31) and Michigan (26) are also highly represented.

“It is exciting to see so many incredible, passionate players from around the nation arrive with the opportunity to work with our exceptional U.S. Youth Futsal coaching staff,” said Soorena Farboodmanesh, Director of the Futsal I.D. Program. “They are indeed the best of the best.”

The boys camp will take place at the New Century Field House in New Century, Kan. under the leadership of Stauffer, Orf and Boys Director Paul Roderique. They are assisted by an exceptional coaching staff that includes veteran youth national team coach Craig “Hawk” Canavan and former men’s national futsal team player Franklin McIntosh. Tom Bellen, Chris Booker, Ricky Pinto and Jose Fabian Rodriguez round out the boys staff.

The girls will gather at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kan. under the leadership of Stauffer, Orf and Girls Director Jason Miller. They are joined by the highly experienced quartet of Jennifer Duke, Shawn Forcellini, Kevin Jackson and Jeff Lamy.

“Our coaching staff is comprised of veteran futsal coaches who have demonstrated a commitment to the sport of futsal and to developing youth futsal players across the country,” said Stauffer. “They are experienced, passionate and hardworking, which is exactly how we want our players to be as well.”

The best players in the country will be selected for U.S. Youth Futsal National Teams. The U18, U16 and U14 boys and girls will travel to Colombia at the end of July, while another even is in the works for the U12 boys and girls.

“More than 400 players will vie for just a small number of spots on the U.S. Youth Futsal National Teams,” said Farboodmanesh. “This event will be a high level, competitive, fun training camp that will prepare players to compete for their country in the near and long-term future.”

Three players who attended previous camps were thereafter also selected to play for the senior U.S. Men’s National Futsal Team.
