SEC Soccer Players of the Week announced following Week 4 of 2022 season
The Southeastern Conference (SEC) announced its Players of the Week following the completion of Week 4 of the 2022 NCAA soccer season.
Offensive Player of the Week
Anna Podojil, Arkansas
F • Sr. • Cincinnati, Ohio
Anna Podojil provided 3 of Arkansas’ six goals to help the Hogs draw with No. 13 BYU and shut out Grand Canyon, both on the road. Against BYU, Podojil assisted on the first goal of the game then netted her own in the 18th minute. Her two goals versus Grand Canyon, one of them the game winner, gave her the seventh brace of her career. She led the Hogs this week in goals (3), points (7) and shots (8). Her 107 career points ties the program record and she needs three goals to tie the school record.
Defensive Player of the Week
Jyllissa Harris, South Carolina
D • 5th-Year • Hazlet, NJ
Jyllissa Harris led South Carolina to a 2-1 win at Virginia Tech and a scoreless draw against NC State where she played all 90 minutes. The Gamecocks held the Wolfpack to just one shot on goal in the match. Harris has seen nearly 90 consecutive starts, and has been a vital piece in each of the Gamecocks’ six shut outs this year.
Freshman of the Week
Maggie Wadsworth, Mississippi State
F • Fr. • Flowery Branch, Ga.
Maggie Wadsworth netted the game-winning goal against Southern Miss in Hattiesburg. Three days later, Wadsworth would net the team’s third goal of four total scored over Presbyterian College (9/11) to help push the team’s unbeaten run to eight straight. She leads the team in goals (4), points (10), game-winning goals (3) and is tied for the team-lead in shots on goal (11).
