SEC Soccer Players of the Week honored following Week 5 of 2022 season

The Southeastern Conference (SEC) announced its Players of the Week following the completion of Week 5 of the 2022 NCAA soccer season.

Co-Offensive Players of the Week

Felicia Knox, Alabama
M • Jr. • Kansas City, Mo.

Scored a goal and added an assist in the Crimson Tide’s upset over No. 5 South Carolina. Knox has recorded an assist in five straight games.

Dasia Torbert, Georgia
M • Jr. • Buford, Ga.

Scored cored the game-winning goal and had an assist in Georgia’s win at Texas A&M. She became just the seventh player in program history to tally a point in five consecutive matches.

Defensive Player of the Week

Lindsey Romig, Tennessee
GK • Sr. • Midlothian, Va.

Lindsey Romig recorded a career-high nine saves on the road at Florida, securing a crucial win for Tennessee in its SEC opener. The Gators outshot the Lady Vols 14-12 and put 10 shots on frame, five of which were in the final 25 minutes of the match. Romig commanded the defense throughout the game, denying six shots taken from inside the 18-yard box.

Freshman of the Week

Maggie Wadsworth, Mississippi State

Maggie Wadsworth scored two goals against No. 14 Arkansas led the charge for the team’s first top-15 win under head coach James Armstrong, and the program’s first win over Arkansas since 2015. Her four game-winners are already tied for the third-most in an MSU season, and is only one away from tying the school record for most game-winning goals in one season (5).
