Second-half goals send U.S. U-17 Men’s National Team to 3-1 loss against Argentina

The U.S. Under-17 Men’s National Team conceded three straight goals and couldn’t overcome the deficit in a 3-1 loss against Argentina on Thursday in the team’s second, and final, match of the Four-Nations Tournament in Santa Fe, Argentina.

Rubio Rubin scored in his fourth consecutive match for the U-17 MNT to close the gap to two goals in the 74th minute, but it wasn’t enough to keep Argentina from snapping the USA’s four-match unbeaten streak. Rubin was able to reach a low cross from Junior Flores with a sliding, right-footed tap-in to put the U.S. on the board.

Leonardo Suarez opened the scoring for Argentina in the third minute with a strong left-footed shot from the top of the box. The match would remain 1-0 until the 63rd minute when Sebastian Driussi converted in front of goal following a nice centering pass from the end line. Nicolas Tripichio put Argentina ahead 3-0 eight minutes later in the 71st minute.

The U.S. Under-17 Men’s National Team concludes its trip to Argentina with an international friendly against Paraguay on Saturday at 10 a.m. ET in Buenos Aires.
