Second weekend of Girls Academy Texas Winter Event canceled

The Girls Academy announced the cancelation of its second weekend of competition at the GA Texas Winter Event, due to ongoing severe winter weather in the Houston area.

Following the completion of the U17-U19 event this past weekend, the U15-U16 age groups were slated to play their first showcase of 2021 from February 20-22.

Round Rock, Texas and the surrounding area is currently under a state of emergency amid severely low temperatures and ice storms, which are causing power outages and other major infrastructure issues.

“We have been following the ongoing weather developments in the Austin area along with the state of Texas. We believe it is in the best interest of all teams traveling into the area to cancel this coming weekend’s event.

The weather forecasted for this week in addition to what has already arrived is more than we believe the local government is able to handle. The area is currently in a state of emergency at the local, state, and federal levels.

All teams that have paid their invoice for the upcoming event will receive a full refund. We do not have plans in place to reschedule this event.

Traveling Teams will cancel all hotel reservations that were booked through them directly. There is no need to contact Traveling Teams or the hotel. That being said, if your team is still in the area from this past weekend and you need any help with your hotel, please do not hesitate to reach out to Traveling Teams.
