Six champions crowned at Va. State Cup finals

Six teams earned Virginia State Cup championships Sunday at the Hampton Roads Soccer Complex in Virginia Beach.

Under-12 Boys 8v8
Arlington Eagles Red proved its goal-scoring mettle once again in the final, defeating the Richmond Kickers Elite White 5-1. Throughout the tournament, Arlington never scored fewer than four goals in any match. Arlington reached the final with a 4-2 win over Beltway rivals SYA Cardinals 99 Red. The Kickers had reached the final by outscoring its opponents 14-1, including a 2-1 win over Loudoun 99 Boys Red in Saturday’s semifinal.
U-12 Girls 8v8
In a tight match, ASC Premier 99G defeated VYS Patriots Black 2-1 in Sunday’s Virginia State Cup final. ASC Premier played strong defensively throughout its Virginia State Cup run, allowing just a single goal in each of its matches, including Saturday’s 5-1 semifinal win over Richmond Kickers Elite. VYS Patriots reached the final by defeating FASA Impact Elite 99 2-1 in Saturday’s semifinal.
U-13 Boys
Northern Virginia SC Jr. Royals 98 Blue posted a 4-0 shutout of DC Stoddert Blue Metros 98 to win the U-13 Boys Virginia State Cup title. The win capped off a strong State Cup run for NVSC, as it gave up just one goal in five matches–that lone goal coming in its opening cup match. NVSC outscored its opponents 14-1. The Royals reached the final with a 2-0 win over Loudoun 98B Red in Saturday’s semifinal, getting goals from Idrissa Barrie and Jose Carranza. DC Stoddert Blue Metros 98 reached the final with a 2-1 semifinal win over SYC Strikers Blue.
U-13 Girls
BRYC 98 Elite took the Virginia State Cup title Sunday with a 1-0 win over Loudoun 98G Red. The Braddock Road side reached the final with a 3-1 semifinal win over Richmond Kickers Elite, and outscored its cup opponents 12-3 in winning the title. Loudoun 98G Red advanced to the final by virtue of a 2-1 win over SYA Cardinals 98G Red.
U-14 Boys
FC Richmond Magic defeated Virginia Club Champions League rival SOCA U-14 Boys Express 97B01 1-0 in overtime to win the U-14 Boys Virginia State Cup title. Magic defeated defending State Cup champions Arlington Impact 1-0 to reach the semifinals, then defeated PWSI Courage 97B Red 2-1 to reach the final. Magic outscored its opponents 17-2 in winning the U-14 Boys State Cup. SOCA reached the final with a 1-0 win over Barca 97 Elite. SOCA had not given up a goal in State Cup play until the final.
U-14 Girls
Herndon Freedom defeated PWSI Courage 97 Red to win the U-14 Girls Virginia State Cup title. It outscored opponents 14-3 on its way to the title, advancing to the final by virtue of a 3-0 win over Arlington Rowdies Red in the semifinal. PWSI Courage 97G Red made it to the final after a 3-0 semifinal win over SYA Cardinals 97 Red. PWSI Courage gave up just one goal on its way to the final.
