Six players depart USMNT camp ahead of friendly vs. Uruguay
CHICAGO – The U.S. Men’s National Team roster was reduced to 20 players as John Brooks, Sean Johnson, Weston McKennie, Alfredo Morales, Christian Pulisic and Zack Steffen were released back to their clubs on Saturday morning.
No replacements will be made ahead of Tuesday’s match against Uruguay in St. Louis.
The USA heads to St. Louis, Missouri to tackle fifth-ranked Uruguay at Busch Stadium in its last match before Concacaf Nations League play begins in October. The game will be broadcast beginning at 7:50 p.m. ET on FS1, TUDN and Univision. [TICKETS]
McKennie, Pulisic and Steffen went the full 90 minutes in Friday’s match against Mexico, while Morales left the match with an injury in stoppage time. The midfielder is being evaluated this morning before his return to Fortuna Düsseldorf.
Having experienced right groin tightness during the week, Brooks did not dress for the match, while Johnson was an unused substitute against Mexico.
