SMU’s Chris Petrucelli to coach U-18 USWNT at Tricontinental Tournament

DALLAS (SMU) – SMU women’s soccer head coach Chris Petrucelli has been selected by U.S. Soccer to coach the U-18 Women’s National Team in the Tricontinental Tournament from Jan. 21 to Feb. 1.

The tournament, consisting of round robin play between the United States, China, Norway and the Netherlands, will take place at the Premier Sports Campus in Lakewood Ranch, Florida. All athletes competing in the tournament are born after Jan. 1, 2002.

USA will play China on Saturday, Jan. 25, Norway on Tuesday, Jan. 28 and the Netherlands on Friday, Jan. 31. The games will be streamed on USSoccer.com.

Petrucelli’s past experience coaching U.S. Soccer includes serving as the head coach on multiple occasions. He coached the U-21 Women’s National Team to back-to-back Nordic Cup titles in 2003 and 2004, the U-16 girls Region II ODP and at the United States Olympic Festival in 1994 and 1995.
