St. Louis CITY SC signs 16-year-old Tyson Pearce to MLS Homegrown Contract
ST. LOUIS – St. Louis CITY SC signed Academy Product Tyson Pearce as the club’s third MLS Homegrown. Pearce is signed to an MLS NEXT Pro contract through the remainder of 2023 then will sign as an MLS Homegrown through 2027 with an option in 2028.
“Tyson is rising Academy player in our system and we are happy to see him progress through the organization’s professional pathway,” St. Louis CITY SC Sporting Director Lutz Pfannenstiel said. “His progression through the Academy has been in a positive way and getting a recent call up to the U.S. Men’s Youth National team also helped his growth.”
Pearce built on the impressive performances during the Under-17 team’s Generation adidas Cup qualifying matches in December of 2023 with his youth national team call up. His selection made him the fourth player to be called-up to a youth national team in the Academy’s young history, joining midfielder Aaron Heard, defender Fritz Volmar and forward Caden Glover as players who have received national team callups.
Following his Youth National team call up, Pearce earned time to train with the first team in CITY SC’s first preseason camp down in Miami. Pearce, Glover and Miguel Perez were the lone three St. Louis CITY Academy players to join the first team in the beginning of the year. Since then, he has gained professional experience with CITY2, recently playing in two matches.
