Strikers host Ohio ECNL teams, ASL matches as part of Jefferson Cup

By Jimmy LaRoue

As part of the Jefferson Cup this weekend, Richmond Strikers Under-14 through U-18 Elite Club National League teams are in action and will take on Ohio Premier Eagles Saturday and Ohio Elite Soccer Academy Sunday.

The Strikers U-16 team will look for a strong performance this weekend to move up in the Mid-Atlantic Division standings, as it stands 6-3-3 and in fourth place with a 1.75 points-per-game average. Both of the Strikers’ opponents have played half as many games coming into the weekend, but Ohio Elite is in second place with a 5-1-0 record and a 2.50 ppg average.

The Strikers U-14 team (4-3-2, 1.56 ppg average) can also move up in the standings with a strong showing, as it also is in fourth.

FC Virginia’s U-17s (10-1-1), meanwhile will look to maintain its standing in a pair of games this weekend against the same two teams–Ohio Elite Saturday and Ohio Premier Sunday.

Mostly Mid-Atlantic Conference and Southeast Conference teams will be in action this weekend in Elite Clubs National League play.
