Syracuse women’s soccer signs transfer from Central Arkansas
Former Central Arkansas defender Zoe Van De Cloot will transfer to Syracuse and join the Orange women’s soccer program, according to Coach Nicky Adams. Van De Cloot has signed a scholarship agreement with the University and will enroll this fall.
“We are thrilled to be adding Zoe as a transfer to our program,” Adams said. “Zoe is a versatile defender who will provide an immediate presence on our backline.”
“One of Zoe’s main strengths is her ability to contribute on both sides of the ball. She will fit in nicely with our style of play,” Adams continued. “She brings to us a wealth of International experience having represented Belgium with the youth national teams. Zoe’s professionalism will be a wonderful asset to our team and program.”
A native of Zoersel, Belgium, Van De Cloot started all 18 games she played in at Central Arkansas this past season. She finished her rookie collegiate campaign with two goals, six assists and 10 points. Van De Cloot tallied goals in wins against Oral Roberts and Southeastern Louisiana. She contributed a season-best two assists in a loss at Houston Baptist.
Central Arkansas posted a 12-9-2 overall record and a 3-7-1 Southland Conference mark in 2020-21. Van De Cloot was named the Southland Conference Defender of the Week twice.
She owns international experience as well, having competed with the Belgium Under-17 National Team in 2019 and 2020.
Van De Cloot will have sophomore athletic standing when she officially enrolls at Syracuse.
