Top 25 ECNL Girls clubs revealed as Slammers HB Køge wins Overall Club Championship

RICHMOND, Va. – The ECNL announced that Slammers FC HB Køge has won the 2022-23 ECNL Girls Overall Club Championship.

This honor is awarded to the club that earned the highest total points from regular-season conference games and performance at the ECNL National Playoffs and Finals. Winning this championship requires consistent excellence across all age groups throughout the season.

“We’re humbled and honored to be named a club champion because there are amazing clubs in this league,” said Walid Khoury, Slammers FC HB Køge ECNL Girls Director. “The club title is something we set out to achieve every year. It’s the standard we set for ourselves as a club.”

Slammers finished first in the Southwest Conference in three age groups (U16, U17, U18/19), qualified all six teams to the ECNL Girls National Playoffs in San Diego, and advanced four teams to the ECNL Girls National Finals in Richmond. In addition, the Slammers U18/19 side captured the ECNL Girls National Championship Trophy in San Diego, while their U13 side took home the ECNL Girls National Championship in Richmond, in July.

“You have to go play the best the country has to offer,” Khoury said. “Just to be named among these clubs and move teams into quarterfinals and semifinals is an accomplishment in itself because the top clubs in the ECNL are very good.”

Off the field, Khoury noted how the cohesion that exists in the club is a key element to their success each season. “There’s many layers besides just the competitive part. It’s the support we get from our parents, our players, coaches, and administration. We all work as a cohesive unit.”

Last year’s overall club champion, Solar SC, finished second this season. Solar finished first in three age groups in the Texas Conference (U13, U15, U16) and qualified five teams for the ECNL Girls National Playoffs. At the ECNL Girls National Finals in Richmond, Solar brought home the U16 ECNL National Championship.

San Diego Surf finished third in the overall club rankings, after they qualified five teams for the ECNL Girls National Playoffs and had four of those teams (U13, U14, U15, U17) advance to the ECNL Girls National Finals.

Real Colorado National qualified all six of their teams for the ECNL Girls National Playoffs in San Diego and advanced two teams (U13 and U15) to the ECNL Girls National Finals, which saw them finish fourth in the overall club rankings.

Michigan Hawks, the U15 ECNL Girls National Champions, also qualified all six of their teams to the ECNL Girls National Playoffs, and round out the top five.
