U.S. Soccer Development Academy East Conference Recap: Week 5

U.S. Soccer Development Academy East Conference clubs continued early season action over the weekend.

U-14

Atlanta United FC (3-0-2) remains undefeated through five games following a pair of clean sheet victories at home this weekend over NC Fusion and CASL. Atlanta goalkeeper Ryan Schewe played 160 minutes of scoreless soccer between the posts, behind a dominant effort by the back line. Defenders Josiah Blanton and Garrett Gardner both played every minute of action during the weekend as well, while Jackson WrobelJeremiah Zuniga and Daniel Mangarov provided the scoring.

Following a 2-0 loss to Atlanta on Saturday, NC Fusion (1-2-0) bounced back with its first win of the season on Sunday, overpowering Concorde Fire 8-2. David Molina led the way with a hat trick, as five other players netted one goal each for Fusion’s balanced attack.

D.C. United (5-1-0) extended its winning streak to three with a 2-1 victory over Bethesda SC. United took a 2-0 lead in the first 13 minutes of the game with early strikes from Moses Nyeman and Maxwel De-Bodene, then preserved the lead the rest of the way.

Baltimore Armour (4-1-0) continued its hot start to the season with a second consecutive clean sheet win, blanking Richmond United 2-0 at home. Alexander Krause and Joel Brown provided the scoring, while goalkeeper Joshua Wendel earned the shutout in net. Defenders Jovani AparicioKevin Rodriguez and Ethan Tiao each played the full 80 minutes on the Baltimore back line.

Arlington Soccer Association (3-1-1) defeated Northern Virginia rival Loudoun Soccer 3-1 on the road, remaining unbeaten in its past four matches since an opening day loss on September 3. Joseph Core recorded a first half brace and second half sub James Quill added an insurance goal for Arlington in the 49th minute to secure the win.

The New York Red Bulls (4-0-0) still haven’t allowed a goal through the first month of the season after a 2-0 win over rival PDA on Saturday. U.S. Youth National Team goalkeeper Alex Bobocea once again played the full 80 minutes in net, as Andrew Maia and Daniel Ramm scored second half goals for the Red Bulls.

Orlando City SC (4-0-1) remains undefeated following a 3-0 victory over in-state opponent Weston FC. Nico DiazJulian Kennedy and Wasswa Robbins all scored in the win.

The New York Cosmos (3-1-0) won their third straight match, blanking Cedar Stars Academy – Bergen 2-0. Michael Mollica and Dorian Duenas scored second half goals, as the Cosmos defense recorded its first clean sheet of the season.

Everton FC Westchester (2-3-0) earned its second straight win, edging Oakwood SC 3-2. Liam O’Reilly recorded a brace and Michael Traynor added a goal in the 55th minute, which was enough to overcome a brace by Oakwood midfielder Evan Schweickert on the other end.

New York SC (1-4-0) picked up its first win in impressive fashion, defeating Seacoast United 3-1. Sam McCann set the tone with two goals in the first eight minutes of the game, and completed the hat trick in the 52nd minute while the defense played its best game of the young season.

The Philadelphia Union (2-3-0) earned their second victory with a 3-0 shutout of Continental FC DELCO, behind a first half hat trick within the first 21 minutes from Aboubacar Camara. Goalkeeper Chay Kaplan recorded the clean sheet, while defenders Sean Jennings and Zach Golden played the full 80 minutes.

U-15/16

Atlanta United FC (6-0-0) is still perfect on the season following two more decisive victories, with 5-1 and 3-1 decisions against NC Fusion and CASL. Five different players scored one goal each for Atlanta on Saturday, and three different players found the net on Sunday for the team’s dangerous attack.

Montreal Impact overpowered Seacoast United 7-1 in Canada on Saturday, receiving a four goal performance from Jean Arnaud Tano and two from Cedric ToussaintXavier Laneuville added a 52nd minute goal as part of a six-goal explosion by the team in the second half.

Oakwood SC (3-0-1) remains undefeated after a 1-0 shutout of Everton FC Westchester on the road, as an Owen Guglielmino strike in the 37th minute was enough to secure a win behind the defense’s stingy performance.

BW Gottschee (2-0-1) put on a dominant performance on both ends of the pitch, shutting down Beachside SC 4-0 on Sunday. Four different players scored in a balanced effort, as the Gottschee defense recorded its second clean sheet through its first three games.

A 25th minute goal by Christian Sorto was all Baltimore Armour (3-2-0) needed to defeat Richmond United 1-0 on Saturday, as both defenses dominated the majority of the contest. Goalkeeper Grant Farley earned the shutout in net for Armour.

Daniel Bloyou notched a hat trick for the Philadelphia Union (3-1-1) in a 5-3 victory over Continental FC DELCO. Brenden Aaronson and Carter Emack each scored as well in a four-goal second half outburst for the Union.

U-17/18

Orlando City SC (5-0-0) maintained its unblemished record with a 2-0 shutout of Weston SC, behind goals from David Loera and Juan Esteban Carmona. Goalkeeper Justin Bauer and the Orlando defense recorded their third clean sheet of the young season.

Montreal Impact FC (2-0-1) is still unbeaten through its first three games after a 3-0 blanking of Seacoast United on Saturday. Gabriel Wiethaeuper-Balbinotti scored two goals in the final seven minutes of the first half, after a second minute strike by Vincent Lamy spotted Montreal an early lead.

Baltimore Armour (4-1-0) got back on the winning side in decisive fashion, cruising past Richmond United 3-0 at home. Goalkeeper Andreas Tsaousis recorded the clean sheet in net, as defenders Ryan CalhounJake Dengler and Jacob Friedlander played the full 90 minutes in front of him. George Stephen Nichols, Jacob Williams and Eduardo Rodriguez provided the scoring for Baltimore.

Empire United (2-1-0) won its second straight 3-1 decision on Sunday against FC Boston Bolts. A brace by Jake Kohlbrenner and a 77th minute insurance goal by Zachary Drayer were enough for Empire United to win comfortably, with the defense having allowed just four goals in its first three matches.
