U.S. Soccer to hold second C License Course free of charge for NWSL players
CHICAGO – As part of its ongoing effort to make soccer the preeminent sport in the United States by developing world class players, coaches, and referees, U.S. Soccer is partnering with NWSL and U.S. Soccer donors to conduct the second C License Course for NWSL players.
With the goal of increasing the number of female soccer coaches in the United States, U.S. Soccer created this specific initiative to reduce barriers for current NWSL players that are considering professional opportunities beyond their playing careers. The course will provide the group of elite professional players a first-hand educational experience that will serve as their initial step toward coaching as a profession.
Funded by individual donors to U.S. Soccer and the U.S. Soccer Development Fund, the seven-week U.S. Soccer C License course is free for the 10 current NWSL players that have signed up for the program.
This is the second C course held for NWSL players and provides a positive developmental experience within the coaching environment. Registration for the course was open to all NWSL players meeting minimum playing experience requirements.
The first in-person meeting of the course, running from Oct. 30-Nov. 3 at National Development Center in Kansas City, Kan., consists of classroom learning and field sessions. This educational phase of the course is followed by a seven-week development period at each candidate’s home environment. The course concludes with a final in-person assessment meeting back at the NDC from Dec. 15-19.
The course will utilize the state-of-the-art meeting rooms and outdoor fields at the National Development Center and will be led by instructors Jene’ Baclawski, Rochelle Hearns, Maren McCrary and Karla Thompson.
