U.S. Soccer to re-air most memorable USMNT, USWNT matches for fans

CHICAGO – Following U.S. Soccer’s recent seventh anniversary re-air of the U.S. National Team Snowclasico against Costa Rica, U.S. Soccer will continue to re-air classic U.S. Men’s and Women’s National Team matches on its digital platforms including Twitter (@USWNT, @USMNT), Facebook, YouTube and ussoccer.com.

The next National Team Classic will re-air Wednesday night at 8 p.m. ET, as the USWNT’s incredible comeback win against Brazil to claim the 2018 Tournament of Nations title on the competition’s final matchday is featured for fans’ enjoyment.

As part of our efforts to serve fans during this difficult time dealing with the spread of COVID-19, the re-airing of the biggest and best National Team matches is part of U.S. Soccer’s larger plan to provide fans with content and connection to the National Teams until and after competition resumes. A schedule of more classic National Team matches will be announced soon.

“During this difficult time when we are all doing our part to combat the spread of COVID-19, we want to provide fans the opportunity and access to enjoy the best, most memorable achievements of the U.S. National Teams,” U.S. Soccer Chief Communications Officer Neil Buethe said. “Our Women’s and Men’s National Teams have provided so many unforgettable moments over the years and through re-airing matches and sharing other signature content, we will help fans safely connect to relive those magic moments and memories.”

Ahead of tonight’s #Snowclasico broadcast, U.S. Soccer hosted a live show featuring legendary sportscaster Bob Ley and former USMNT stars-turned-broadcasters Taylor Twellman and Alexi Lalas on Facebook (@officialussoccer). Fans who missed either the live show (Facebook only) or the re-air of #Snowclasico can watch the match on U.S. Soccer’s digital platforms listed above.

Ley was the anchor, Lalas an analyst (alongside former USMNT great, goalkeeper Kasey Keller) and Twellman the color commentator of ESPN’s broadcast of the must-win match for the USMNT that took place at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colorado on March 22, 2013 in the Hexagonal round of 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifying. The 1-0 win for the USA put the team on a path for qualification to the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

On Wednesday, U.S. Soccer re-air the USWNT’s dramatic 2018 Tournament of Nations match against Brazil in which the USA needed a win by two goals to claim the tournament title in the final game of the competition. The USA gave up an own goal in the 16th minute and needed to mount an epic comeback at Toyota Park in Bridgeview, Ill.

In addition to U.S. Soccer re-airing classic National Team games, broadcast partner Fox Sports will re-air, for the second time in a week, the two most recent Women’s World Cup finals, both won in commanding fashion by the USWNT.
