U.S. U-15 Boys’ National Team advances to Copa México de Naciones semifinals with 1-0 win over Costa Rica
MEXICO CITY, Mexico – Joe Gallardo Jr. scored the lone goal of the game as the U.S. Under-15 Boys’ National Team’ defeated Costa Rica 1-0 to advance to the semifinals of the Copa Mexico de Naciones in Mexico City, Mexico.
Gallardo scored in the 43rd minute, getting free and slamming home a header into the upper right corner of the Costa Rica goal. Costa Rica had gone down to 10 men just two minutes earlier when Anderson Naranjo was sent off. Gallardo has scored five goals so far in the tournament.
The U.S. will face Uruguay at 10 a.m. CT on Friday, Aug. 16, in the tournament semifinals. Argentina and Paraguay face off in the other semifinal match at 12 p.m. CT. All matches in the tournament are 70 minutes long.
