U.S. U-17 Women’s National Team ready for Florida training camp with 24 players

CHICAGO – The preparation for Concacaf qualifying for 2025 FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup continues as U.S. U-17 Women’s National Team head coach Katie Schoepfer has called up 24 players for a training camp running from Feb. 18-25 in West Palm Beach, Fla.
This year marks the beginning of FIFA instituting an annual World Cup for U-17 women which will be held in Morocco for the next five years. To be age-eligible for the upcoming U-17 WWC, players must be born on or after Jan. 1, 2008, and all 24 players named by Schoepfer to this camp are 2008s.
The Concacaf qualifying event will be staged in late March/early April at a site to be determined. Unlike past years, there will be no tournament ending in a champion. The qualifying process will consist of three groups of four teams each with the round-robin competitions staged in three different countries. The group winners and best second place team will book tickets to Morocco.
There is one European-based player in this camp in defender Claire Kessenger who moved to Spain when she was nine and currently plays for CE Europa’s Juvenil A U-19 team, the top level for girls in Spain before the professional level.
The players come from 22 different youth clubs. Nineteen players selected come from ECNL clubs and four come from clubs in the Girls Academy.
