U.S. Under-17 Men’s National Team opens Four-Nations Tournament with 5-1 win against Chile
Forward Corey Baird registered a brace in the opening six minutes and the U.S. Under-17 Men’s National Team cruised to a 5-1 victory against Chile in the opening match of the Four-Nations Tournament on Tuesday at Estadio de Club Colón in Santa Fe, Argentina.
Rubio Rubin and Alan Winn added goals in the first half to give the U.S. a commanding 4-0 lead heading into halftime.
The U.S. is scheduled to play Argentina, which beat Panama 2-0 in the tournament’s other match on Tuesday, at 7 p.m. local time (6 p.m. ET) on Thursday, Oct. 25.
Second-half substitute Mukwelle Akale, who entered the match in the 63rd minute, provided the U.S. with a five-goal cushion with a goal in the 69th minute.
Chile cut the USA’s lead to four with a goal from Luis Oyarso in the 80thminute.
