UNC women’s soccer head coach Anson Dorrance to host new podcast
CHAPEL HILL – Vision of a Champion, a podcast from legendary North Carolina women’s soccer head coach Anson Dorrance that explores themes from Dorrance’s book of the same name, will debut this week. The podcast is a partnership between UNC, Tar Heel Sports Properties and Creative Allies.
The first-ever episode will feature a conversation between Dorrance and U.S. women’s soccer legend Mia Hamm, a former Tar Heel. Fans can listen to and subscribe to the Vision of a Champion podcast series on various platforms including Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, Spotify and Google Play.
On the Vision of a Champion podcast, 22-time national champion and eight-time coach of the year Dorrance discusses what it means to be a champion with elite athletes and coaches who have been a part of his hall of fame journey – including Tobin Heath, Roy Williams, Lucy Bronze, Crystal Dunn, April Heinrichs and others.
“There are very few positive elements to this COVID-19 pandemic, but this podcast is a big one for me,” said Dorrance. “Because of the pandemic, podcasts became a way of staying connected with the world around you. Hassan Pinto and Creative Allies saw this as an opportunity, and we jumped on this together. I can’t tell you how much fun I had rereading ‘Vision of a Champion’ and making it an audiobook with so many of my former players who have went on to be world famous.”
The podcast captures the ears not only of soccer enthusiasts, but also all leaders and those interested in learning about Dorrance’s approach to leadership. Dorrance, Carolina’s only head women’s soccer coach, holds a career record of 871-76-41 and has made 28 College Cup appearances in 41 seasons at the helm.
Vision of A Champion is a collaboration between Creative Allies and Tar Heel Sports Properties, UNC Athletics’ multimedia rightsholder and Learfield IMG College’s Chapel Hill-based team.
“I am excited about our Creative Allies’ new partnership with Tar Heel Sports Properties, UNC, and Soccer.com that allows us to share this podcast so that soccer fans, coaches, and business executives around the world can get insights on winning, leadership, and building championship teams from one of the best coaches in the history of sports,” said Pinto, VP of Business Development for Creative Allies.
