Under Armour to support re-branding of Premier Tournament Series
COLUMBIA, MD (Via Elite Tournaments) – In an expansion of an existing partnership, Under Armour has signed on to spearhead three events that were previously being run by Elite Tournaments under another name. The Under Armour Premier Cup Tournament Series will take place over three weekends during the 2016-2017 seasons, with room for a potential fourth event in years to follow.
The UA Premier Cup- Girls will take place December 3-4, 2016 and will be open to girls teams ages U09- U19. The UA Premier Cup- Boys will play March 10-12, 2017 welcoming boys teams U09-U19. Additionally, the UA Spring Tournament will take place April 14-15, 2017 and will be open to both boys and girls teams U09-U19. All Under Armour Premier events will cater to multi-level teams; however, these events will also provide ‘super group’ brackets to host some of the best competition in the country. Elite Tournaments previously managed all marketing and logistical operations for events on these weekends, and have split ways from their former partnership due to differences in professional philosophy.
“We are looking forward to continuing to provide teams with the great experience, professionalism, and excellent organization with the UA Premier Series, a hallmark of Elite Tournaments events and unmatched by other tournaments,” said Matthew Libber, VP of Business Operations.
The Under Armour Premier Cup Tournament Series will take place at turf locations in Northern Virginia. Additionally, Elite Tournaments has partnered with Own the Goal to bring premier level goalkeeper clinics and showcase opportunities to these tournaments. A referee mentor program will also be highlighted at these events, bringing in referees wishing to partner with mentors in order to further their career. This program will be run by former FIFA and MLS referee, Rob Fereday.
Each of the Under Armour Premier Cup Tournament Series events will also provide substantial insurance coverage to ensure that all teams are given full refunds if there are cancellations due to weather.
