University of Louisville women’s soccer signs Bayern Munich product Fiona Gaißer
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — University of Louisville women’s soccer head coach Karen Ferguson-Dayes and her staff announced the addition of forward Fiona Gaißer to the incoming class of 2023. Gaißer, a native of Germany, has most recently been playing with Bayern Munich II in the 2. Frauen-Bundesliga league.
“We are thrilled to add a player of Fiona’s caliber to our 2023 squad,” said Dayes.” She is a very high level attacking player that will help us create more chances and score more goals. She has had an unbelievable youth career already with both Bayern and the German Youth National team and we are excited to get her on campus and to start working with her.”
This current season with Bayern Munich II, Gaißer has appeared in 17 matches and scored a career-best seven goals. In her three seasons with Bayern Munich II, she has played in 25 total matches and tallied nine goals.
Gaißer has also made appearances with the German Women’s Youth National teams at multiple levels throughout her career. She has most recently played with the German National U17 Team.
Gaißer will join the Cardinals in the summer ahead of the 2023 season, that is set to kick off this coming August. The Cardinals are currently in the middle of their spring season and have three matches left. Up next for the Cards is a Spring Cup match against Bowling Green on April 8 in Bowling Green, Ohio.
