University of Maryland signs Israeli National Team goalkeeper Amit Cohen
COLLEGE PARK, MD – Amit Cohen, who played for the Israeli National Team, has signed to play at Maryland after beginning her college career at Florida Atlantic.
This past season, she started all 18 games for the Owls and recorded a 0.97 goals against average with four shutouts playing every minute of every game at FAU. She was a member of the Conference USA All-Freshman Team following the Spring 2021 season. Cohen will have three years of eligibility remaining as she comes to College Park to play for Meghan Ryan Nemzer

As a freshman at Florida Atlantic (2021)
- Started in all 18 matches at goal for FAU in her freshman year
- Did not come off the field and played the whole 1,756:25 minutes for the Owls
- Recorded 70 saves which ranked fifth in Conference USA
- Tallied a goals against average of 0.97, good for sixth in Conference USA
- The 0.97 goals against average is good for eighth-best in a single season in FAU history
- Pitched four shutouts on the season
- Recorded a season-high nine saves against Michigan State
- Came up clutch with a pair of massive saves in penalty kicks in the first round of the Conference USA Tournament against Charlotte
As a freshman at Florida Atlantic (Spring 2021)
- Appeared in, and started, six matches in her debut campaign
- Earned three victories in net, all shutouts, and all in conference play (vs. Charlotte, at Middle Tennessee, and vs. FIU)
- Named Conference USA Goalkeeper of the Week after clean sheet against Charlotte, who had previously been undefeated against C-USA opponents
- Was even better the following week, posting a career-high eight saves in the win over MT
- Voted as a member of the C-USA All-Freshman Team
- Posted a team-high 17 saves, and in her three victories, had 11 of those against zero goals allowed
Prior To College
- Came up through the Israeli Women’s National Team Academy and has a great deal of international playing experience, both for club and country
- Earned six caps on the U19 Israel National Team, and started two matches in goal for Israel in the 2019 UEFA Women’s Championship, against Italy and Denmark
- Her club team, ASA Tel Aviv, took home two championships in 2018-19, winning both the Ligat Nashim title – the Israeli women’s championship – for the eighth time in club history, as well as the Israeli Women’s Cup
- In the latter, she was in goal for a 3-1 victory in the finals match over Maccabi Kishronot Hadera
- The squad posted a 17-1-6 record and earned qualification for the Champions League
