University of South Florida men’s soccer signs forward Oscar Resano

TAMPA – University of South Florida head men’s soccer coach Bob Butehorn has announced the signing of forward Oscar Resano (Mexico City) to a National Letter of Intent (NLI).

Resano joins Shion Soga (Aichi, Japan), along with Segun Afolabi (Austell, Ga.), Josh Gomina (Sampa, Ghana), Donovan Hesselmeyer (North Ft. Myers, Fla.), Jeffrey “JT” Copper (Tampa, Fla.) and Brian Schaefer (Atlantic Beach, Fla.), who also inked NLIs in December.

“Oscar is a true goal scorer and a winner,” said Butehorn. “He has developed his game in the Mexican academy system, which is an extremely competitive environment. I am looking forward to adding his skillset and instincts to our attack.”

Resano attended Universidad Intercontinental in Mexico City and plays his club soccer for Pumas as a standout center-forward. During the past four seasons, Resano played 4,655 minutes in 51 games and scored 35 goals. His goals helped to guide his club to Liga TDP national championships in 2017-18 and 2018-19, and to the U17 Liga MX Clausura title in 2019.

During the 2019 campaign, USF posted an 11-7-1 record that included a win over No. 5 Louisville and made its 21st NCAA Tournament appearance.
