DENVER, Colorado – US Club Soccer’s 12th annual NPL Finals recently concluded at DICK’S Sporting Goods Park in Denver, Colorado. Twelve teams earned National Premier Leagues championships, joining rare company in the NPL record books.

A total of 200 teams representing 124 clubs across 23 states participated in the prestigious tournament. Teams qualified through regular season competition in their respective NPL member leagues, and the top talent from all 17 leagues were on display for the tournament. By the end of the tournament, eight leagues were represented on the final boys day and final girls day with six prevailing as champions: Minnesota NPL (2), NISL NPL Division (2), NorCal NPL Division (2), Red River NPL (2), SOCAL NPL Division (3) and Texas Club Soccer League (1).

Three teams earned the opportunity to repeat as NPL champions after winning titles last year and returning to this year’s edition. Two of those teams successfully defended their championships: Americas FC (U-19 girls) and Sockers FC (U-19 boys). For Sockers FC, the word “dynasty” was suggested on the winners’ stage, as it was the third consecutive year the club has played the U-19 boys championship game.

A few other teams repeated NPL Finals prowess, although this success was more about the respective clubs’ winning cultures, since the age groups weren’t consecutive from last year. Tonka Fusion Elite, winners of this year’s U-15 boys age group, won the U-16 boys title last summer. Minneapolis United, which lost this year’s U-17 boys division finale in heart-breaking penalty kicks, won that same division last year. And St. Croix SC followed up a U-15 girls championship at the 2023 NPL Finals with another U-15 girls title this year.
