OKLAHOMA CITY —The 2021-22 US Youth Soccer Frontier Conference season continued over the weekend, as 34 teams from South Texas and Oklahoma competed at Wendel Whisenhunt Sports Complex and Midwest City Soccer Complex in Oklahoma City. The event included boys and girls teams in the 14U-19U age groups.

The conference has seen many great performances at its first few events, with teams competing for top spots in the standings as the halfway point of the fall season approaches.

  • The standings are tight in the 14U Boys Division, where DKSC 08 Lopez (TX-N), Inwood SC ID Chelsea Jr 08 (TX-S), FC Dallas ETX 08 Garcia (TX-N), and Tigres FC 08 Premier (TX-S) currently undefeated with 9 points each.
  • In the 15U Girls Division, Solar 07 Quiroz (TX-N) sits at the top of the standings with three straight wins in as many games, and it has allowed only one goal so far this season. • In the 19U Girls Division, NE Oklahoma 04 Blue (OK) has been off to a dominant start to the season picking up six wins in as many games. But there is still a lot of soccer to be played and the North Texas and South Texas teams will be vying for a top spot in the division by the season’s end.

What they’re saying:

Jamie Peterson, head coach of NE Oklahoma FC 04 Girls Blue (OK), talked about his team’s success so far this season within the conference and what he attributes to that success.

“We are excited that the group has started 6-0,” Peterson said. “The ladies have worked hard and continue to push to try and win the league. I believe this group of ladies have played together for a long time and have a synergy about the way they play. It’s a close group of players that are talented and very unselfish. Our group truly performs as a team and has a team-first mentality. The credit of their success is shared, and every player has become a leader within the team. We are fortunate to have a group that works hard for each other and together.”

Peterson talked about what his team’s experience has been within the Frontier Conference.

“So far, our team has enjoyed playing in the Frontier Conference,” Peterson said. “It’s nice to play new teams and travel to different locations that we haven’t traveled to in years past. Playing new competition and different levels of competition keeps the team motivated.”

The next Frontier Conference-hosted event will each take place Oct. 9-10 at Gosling Sports Fields and Bear Branch Park in Houston, and it will include teams from the 14U-19U Boys age groups and 15U, 17U and 19U Girls age groups.
