US Youth Soccer Frontier Conference season continues for 13U Divisions
THE WOODLANDS, Texas — The 2020-21 US Youth Soccer Frontier Conference season continued for the 13U Boys and Girls Divisions over the weekend, as 16 South Texas and North Texas teams competed at Gosling Sports Fields in The Woodlands, Texas.
All of the matchups saw teams put in strong performances as they attempted to move up in the Frontier Conference standings as most teams passed midway point in the 13U Conference season.
In the 13U Girls age group, Lonestar SC 08/09G Red (TX-S) got the weekend off to a good start with a win on Saturday. The team’s head coach, Jackie Pope — who is also the club’s 12U and 13U Program Director — talked about what she attributes to her team’s victory on Saturday.
“We came into the weekend and knew our mentality had to be at our best in order to compete,” Pope said. “We came away from the first round of games wanting to improve our team defending, if we were able to do that and finish opportunities, we had a chance to get points.”
Pope also about what it means to the team to be part of and compete in the Frontier Conference.
“It means a lot to Lonestar to compete in the Frontier Conference this spring,” Pope said. “The teams involved are competitive and the environment that these girls are playing in is top notch. I think it benefits teams when every weekend you know you have to be at your best if you want results.”
In the 13U Boys age group, Allegiance FC 08B Black – Pedro (TX-N) put in a strong performance over the weekend, picking up two wins. The team’s head coach, Edvaldo Pedro, talked about what he attributes to his team’s success this weekend.
“The boys did a great job on both games,” Pedro said. “We’re slowly getting back in rhythm and the two games will be a good foundation to build on. I’m proud of my boys’ progress. We’ve had to make some adjustments to start the season and I’m happy to see the boys adapt and get the job done on the field.”
Pedro also talked about the team’s goals for the season and how the Frontier Conference pathway provides an avenue to achieve those goals.
“The Frontier Conference is a goal for the team as we aim to finish as conference champions before progressing to the Regional and the National Championship stage.”
