(Via US Youth Soccer) – The US Youth Soccer National League 2017-2018 boys season kicks off December 7 in North Carolina. Continue reading for a season preview of the 15U boys age group.

B15 Blue

The team to beat in the 15U Boys Blue Division will be United SA Mount Pleasant 03 Premier (SC), which claimed the US Youth Soccer National Championship this past summer in Frisco, Texas. After playing four very tight games at Nationals, the South Carolina side should be prepared to compete in seven meaningful matches during its first National League season.

USA/MP started its run to the National title by overcoming a 4-0 defeat on the opening day of the US Youth Soccer Region III Championships. From there, it strung together five straight wins to take the Regional crown before heading to Frisco. A similar streak may be necessary to finish on top of the Blue Division, and each team will surely be gunning for USA/MP, so it will be tough.

A familiar foe should challenge the South Carolina side, as Tennessee SC 2003 Showcase (TN)enters the National League season after coming up short in a 3-1 loss to USA/MP in the Region III final. Combined with its US Youth Soccer Southern Regional Premier League success, Tennessee has plenty of experience.

LVSA 03 Silver (NV) also came one game away from Nationals, as it used a high-scoring offense to advance to the US Youth Soccer Region IV Championships final. Meanwhile, St. Louis Scott Gallagher SC Elite 2003 (MO) navigated a very tight group in US Youth Soccer Midwest Regional League play to qualify for the National League. Both could make some noise in the Blue Division.

B15 Red

After coming up one goal short of the National Championship, Beadling Elite (PA-W) will be anxious to get its 15U Boys Red Division campaign started, as it looks to finish in the top two and return to Nationals.

Beadling used strong defensive efforts to capture the 2017 US Youth Soccer Region I Championship and make its run to the National final. The Western Pennsylvania side thrived in low-scoring matchups and conceded its only goals in Frisco in the final game. If it can replicate that dominant defensive effort, Beadling will have a chance to earn points in every National League game.

CDA Slammers FC HB 03 (CA-S), which finished just behind Beadling in group play at the National Championships, is another contender in the Red Division. Slammers outscored its opponents 25-to-3 en route to the US Youth Soccer Region IV Championship and put forth a good showing at Nationals, despite barely missing out on the final.

CUP 03 Gold (OH-S) knows about narrow defeats, as it came up just short of advancing to Nationals in 3-2 (PK) loss in the US Youth Soccer Region II Championships final. It will seek a top two finish in the Red Division and the accompanying berth to Nationals. Bethesda SC Blue 03 (MD) will also be a team to watch, as it finished first in the US Youth Soccer Eastern Regional League before advancing to the semifinals of the Region I Championships.
