BOCA RATON, Fla. (Via US Youth Soccer) – The 2015 US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program (US Youth Soccer ODP) Girls Thanksgiving Interregional concluded Friday in Boca Raton, Fla. with the 1998-2000 age groups. The six-day tournament featured elite girls teams in the 1998-2002 age groups from each of the four US Youth Soccer Regions.
The top goal scorer of the week was Region II’s Kalyssa Van Zanten from the 2001 age group with five goals. Katie O’Kane (2002-RIV), Marykate McGuire (2000-RI), Kristina Lynch (1999-RII) and Sydney Spruill (1998-RIII) topped their age groups with three goals each. Region III won the most games out of any other Region, with ten wins across all age groups. Region II took the top of the standings in the 1999, 2001 and 2002 age groups, and Region III took the top of the standings in the 1998 and 2000 age groups.
The nearly 400 leading players that participated in the event were selected from US Youth Soccer State Associationand Regional level evaluations. Throughout the week, players attended training sessions and competed in matches against other Regions, in front of U.S. Soccer national staff and collegiate coaches to maximize their exposure for selection to the next level of play.

Highlights from Day 6:
2000 Girls: Region II v. Region IV
Both Region II and Region IV were looking for their first win of the week on the last day of play. Region IV kicked off the back and forth game with a goal in just the 2nd minute of play by Adriana Maldonado. Region II equalized in the 14th minute on a Katherine Soderstrom goal. Region IV regained the lead when Zoe Hasenaur found the back of the net in the 20th minute. Soderstom notched her brace for Region II in the 30th minute to tie the game going into halftime at 2-2. Region IV looked to have the game won in the 70th minute on a Madison Williams goal but Region II’s Kenedy Tranter scored just six minutes later to bring the final score to 3-3. Soderstrom’s two goals tied her for second highest goal scorer in the age group with two goals on the week.
2000 Girls: Region I v. Region III
Region III defeated Region I 2-1 on the final day of play to finish atop the 2002 age group. All three of the games goals came in a flurry late in the first half. Kimya Raietparvar scored the game’s opening goal in the 30th minute for Region III. Region I’s Marisa Fischetti leveled the score just three minutes later. With the 1-1 score, Region I would finish atop the group, but Region III’s Charlotte Teeter scored the game winner just four minutes later to bring the final score to 2-1.
1999 Girls: Region I v. Region III
With a win Region I would finish on top of the 1999 age group but faced a tough final test against Region III on the last day of play. Region III dampened Region I’s hopes early when Taylor Morgan scored the game winner in the just the 9th minute of play. Region III’s Nhi Truong added a goal in the 19th minute and Region III held on and leapfrogged Region I to finish in second place.
1999 Girls: USA U15 YNT v. Region IV
The US U15 YNT defeated Region IV 3-1 on the final day of play. Region IV took the lead in the 25th minute off a goal from Ele Avery but goals scored in the 30th, 40th and 50th minutes led the US YNT to victory as it won its first game of the week finishing with a 1-1-1 record.
1998 Girls: Region IV v. Region I
A 0-0 tie against Region IV was enough for Region I to hold on to its second place in the 1998 age group. Both teams finished with records of 1-1-1 with the tie with Region I having just a slight advantage in goal differential.
1998 Girls: Region II v. Region III
Region III finished a perfect 3-0-0 with their win over Region II on the final day. The perfect record looked to be in trouble after Region II’s Abby Hess scored in the 20th minute. With the score 1-0 at halftime, Region III came out to put the game away in the second half. Region III’s Maddison Krstec scored her second goal of the week to tie the game at 1-1 in the 51st minute. Age group leading goal scorer Sydney Spruill scored the game winner in the 63rdminute with her third goal of the week. Teammate Cameryn Rogers added an insurance goal in the 71st minute to bring the final score to 3-1.
