US Youth Soccer Region III Presidents Cup kicks off in Lafayette, La.

FRISCO, Texas (Via US Youth Soccer) — The 2015 US Youth Soccer Region III Presidents Cup kicked off Thursday afternoon with opening ceremonies at the Cajundome and Convention Center in Lafayette, La. The first matches of the week take place Thursday night, with Under-17 Boys and Girls taking the fields at the Moore Park Soccer Complex in Lafayette, La.

More than 110 US Youth Soccer teams in the Under-13 through Under-17 age groups from US Youth Soccer Region III (South) will compete from June 11-14 in hopes of claiming a regional title and advancing to the 2015 US Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup, July 9-12 in Overland Park, Kan.

Preliminary games will take place Thursday, June 11 through Saturday, June 13. Regional champions will be crowned following final matches on Saturday and Sunday.

Louisiana Soccer Association will host the event, and the other 11 State Associations represented include Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, North Texas and South Texas.

The US Youth Soccer Presidents Cup is designed for teams seeking additional challenges to play for a national title against teams of similar abilities. The cup provides a progressive, competitive experience to teams that might not otherwise get the opportunity to participate in a series of unique experiences highlighting competition, camaraderie and community from the state to regional to national levels of US Youth Soccer.
