USA beats Mexico 4-2 to win 2023 Concacaf Boys’ U-15 Championship

MIAMI, Florida – The 2023 Concacaf Boys’ Under-15 Championship wrapped up on Sunday with the United States claiming the League A title with a 4-2 victory over Mexico at the Estadio Olimpico Felix Sanchez in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. (View the USA Roster)

Chase Adams (Columbus Crew Academy) led the USA with a brace in the decisive win, while Jamir Johnson (Philadelphia Union Academy) and Julian Hall (Red Bulls Academy) each scored a goal apiece.

For his exceptional performance throughout the 2023 Concacaf Boys’ U-15 Championship, U.S. midfielder Cavan Sullivan (Philadelphia Union Academy) earned the Golden Boot Award, which is bestowed to the best player at the tournament. Sullivan starred for the U.S. midfield in a brilliant effort throughout the event.

The balanced U.S. attack ran through Sullivan who helped his squad dominate possession throughout their title run. He got all of his teammates involved in a fast-paced offense which piled up 25 total goals in 5 total games.

The USA reached the final against Mexico after their dominant performance in the group stage, which included a 3-2 win over Qatar, an 11-0 rout of Cuba and a 3-0 shutout of Haiti.

In the knockout rounds, the USA took down Guatemala 4-1 in the quarterfinal before having to grind out a 1-0 win against Haiti in the semifinal.

A total of 11 different players scored at least one goal for the USA during the Concacaf U-15 Championship. Adams led the squad with 5 goals, followed by Johnson with 4, while Sullivan and Tanner Rosborough (Red Bulls Academy) netted 3 goals each.
