USC Upstate announces change in leadership for women’s soccer program

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – University of South Carolina Upstate announced a change in leadership in its women’s soccer program. Tyson John‘s contract was not renewed after six seasons leading the Spartans.

“I would like to thank Tyson John for his service to USC Upstate,” said Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Daniel Feig. “Coach John helped elevate our women’s soccer program during his time here and has provided a great foundation from which our program can grow. We wish Tyson and his family the best in all of his future endeavors.”

John began his tenure at Upstate on July 18, 2016, as the fourth head coach since the program’s inception in 2000. He departs as the winningest coach in the program’s D1 era with a 27-58-9 overall mark, 12-36-4 in conference play.

A national search for the next leader of Upstate’s women’s soccer program is underway.
