USYNT midfielder Eleanor Klinger re-classifies to Class of 2024, signs with Stanford
STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford’s Knowles Family Director of Women’s Soccer Paul Ratcliffe has added another high-profile player to his already stellar signing class for next fall, announcing the signing of midfielder Eleanor Klinger this week.
Klinger, who was committed to Stanford and was expected to sign and join the Cardinal for the 2025 season, has reclassified and will now enroll on The Farm for the 2024 campaign.
A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Klinger has played with Internationals SC on the club circuit since 2016, helping her squad to three ECNL Ohio Valley Conference titles (2021-23) and a National Semifinalist spot in 2022. Prior to reclassifying for next season, Klinger was the top-ranked 2025 recruit according to TopDrawerSoccer and Prep Soccer.
A three-time TopDrawerSoccer ECNL National Playoffs Best XI selection, she is a three-time ECNL All-American, two-time Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year, and a three-time All-Conference first team honoree.
A mainstay with the United States Youth National Team, Klinger helped the U.S. U19 squad to a bronze medal at the 2023 Pan American Games in Chile. Playing up an age group for the U17 cycle, she earned a spot as a U17 Women’s World Cup alternate in 2022.
Including Klinger, the now eight-player signing class will look to help build off a 2023 season that saw Stanford go 20-1-4 and finish as the national runner-up while making its 11th all-time appearance in the College Cup.
