Va. State Cup action resumes with quarterfinal matchups

Virginia State Cup action resumes Saturday with quarterfinal action in boys’ and girls’ Under-15 through U-18 brackets.
The site for the State Cup semifinals and finals will be the River City Sportsplex (formerly known as Sports Quest) in Richmond on Oct. 27-28.
In the quarterfinal U-15 Boys bracket, top-seed FC Richmond Magic 97 will take on No. 8 MPS Legend Green of McLean (Huguenot Park #3, 12 p.m.). Magic reached the quarterfinals with a 5-1 win over Roanoke Star U-15 Boys Elite and a 3-0 win over SOCA Lightning of Charlottesville. McLean reached the quarterfinal with a 1-0 win over Richmond Kickers Elite and a 4-3 win over Lee-Mount Vernon SC Patriots 97 White.

• No. 5 Loudoun 97B Red vs. No. 4 Barca FC 97 Elite (Ida Lee #2, 4 p.m.)

Looking at the the U-16 Boys bracket, top-seededBeach FC 96B Red awaits the winner of FASA Hotspurs Elite 96 and FC Richmond Magic 96 (Huguenot Park #3, 10 a.m.).
Roanoke Star U-16 Boys Elite, who upset No. 5 Virginia Rush U-16 Nike 2-0 in the last round, faces ABGC Spartans SC (Pine Ridge #4 Turf, 2 p.m.), who took down No. 4 seed BRYC Elite 96 2-1.
