Va. State Cup to determine semifinal teams this weekend

The Virginia Youth Soccer Association State Cup quarterfinal action is set for this weekend, with berths in the semifinals up for grabs.

The semifinals and finals are set for May 19-20 at the Hampton Roads Soccer Complex in Virginia Beach.

For teams scheduled to travel to Virginia Beach this weekend for games at the Hampton Roads Soccer Complex, the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel will remain open, as the Virginia Department of Transportation has postponed work on eastbound lanes scheduled for this weekend until after Labor Day.

Still, an alternate for teams heading to Virginia Beach this weekend in the event of HRBT delays is I-664. The VYSA has provided the following directions (Allow an extra 30 minutes if using the I-664 alternate route):

• Take the I-664 exit off of I-64.  You will be headed toward Suffolk when you do that.  Take I-664 South approximately 6-7 miles to the intersection with I-264 Eastbound and I-64 Westbound.  At that interchange you can take either:

1) I-264 Eastbound headed toward Norfolk.  That will take you through the Downtown Tunnel and stay on I-264.  You will then follow the directions for the Hampton Roads Soccer Complex as stated on the website.  OR

2) I-64 Westbound approximately 10 miles until you interesect with I-264 Eastbound.  Take I 264 Eastbound and then follow the directions to the Hampton Roads Soccer Complex.
