(Via Vancouver Whitecaps FC) – It was a clean sweep for Vancouver Whitecaps FC in Portland this past weekend. In addition to WFC2 winning 3-1 over Timbers 2 in USL action, both the U-18 and U-16 Residency teams also won against the Timbers in USSDA action.

U-18

With WFC2 head coach Alan Koch watching, the ‘Caps U-18s came out on the front foot from start to finish and walked away with a well-earned 1-0 victory.
Very quietly, the ‘Caps have now extended their unbeaten streak to 22 matches and have only lost once all season.

After a strong start, the scoring opened through a great combination. Terrell Smith, up from the U-16 team, sent a ball in to Patrick Izett. The ball was then crossed in from Izett, dummied by Gloire Amanda, and finished by Cole Morokhovich.

Despite continued pressure, the lone goal was enough to secure the win.

“Very pleased with the intensity and pressure for 90 minutes today,” said U-18 coach Rich Fagan after the match. “On another day we could have scored a few more.”
