VCU women’s soccer adds Gabby Muncy to coaching staff

RICHMOND, Va. – VCU Women’s Soccer has announced the addition of a familiar face, Gabby Muncy, to its staff. Muncy will join head coach Lindsey Martin and the staff as volunteer assistant coach.

As volunteer assistant coach, Muncy will specifically help the Rams develop team culture and leadership skills. The Virginia native and VCU alumna returns to her home state after a three-year stint as head coach for varsity girls’ soccer at Mount Paran Christian School in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Before the 2020 season was cut short, Muncy was one game away from guiding the Lady Eagles to the program’s second consecutive region championship and finished with a 6-3-1 overall record. In 2019, Muncy led the team to their first region championship since 2012 and MPCS finished the season with an 9-7-0 overall record.

On the pitch, Muncy spent her first two seasons playing at Marshall University before transferring to VCU in the spring of 2014. As a Ram, Muncy served as team captain and SAAC president. In addition, she made the Atlantic 10 All-Academic team in both 2015 and 2016 and also received a Hammer Strength All-American nomination.

A two-time graduate of VCU, Muncy earned her bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science in 2016 and received her master’s degree in Sports Leadership in 2017.
