[Video] Baltimore Blast player headbutted by opponent after MASL playoff win
What should have been a celebratory postgame atmosphere became a frightening situation following the Baltimore Blast’s 10-7 Major Arena Soccer League playoff win over the Missouri Comets on Sunday night in Kansas City. Moments after the final whistle Blast captain Pat Healy was viciously headbutted by Comets defender Andre Braithwaite, splitting his forehead open and knocking him to the ground.
As seen in the video above, Healy sustained a deep cut on his lower forehead but did not sustain any potentially life-threatening injuries. WMAR, Baltimore’s ABC News affiliate, has reported that Blast owner Ed Hale said the team plans to file criminal charges against Braithwaite, who was released by the Comets on Sunday night shortly after the incident.
Baltimore will meet the Monterrey Flash in the MASL Championship series, beginning with Game 1 at home on March 20 with kickoff at 7:35 p.m.
