Virginia State Cup Semifinals Preview: U15-U19 Boys
The Virginia Fall State Cup semifinals will be played this Saturday, October 28 at the Virginia Soccer Training Center in Fredericksburg.
See below for a rundown of the match-ups on the boys side.
U-15
Beach FC 03 Red vs. BRYC Elite Academy
11:00 a.m. on Field 3
Beach FC 03 Red goes for its third straight win in State Cup play, coming off 2-1 and 2-0 results against Herndon Nacionals Black and McLean 03 Green. BRYC Elite Academy ECNL earned its way into the semifinals with a 2-0 shutout of New River United 03 Blue and a 5-3 defeat of FC Richmond Magic 03.
LMVSC Patriots 03 Red vs. Virginia Beach FC 03 Academy I
2:00 p.m. on Field 8
Reigning U-14 State Cup champion LMVSC Patriots 03 Red outscored its first two opponents by a margin of 12-1 en route to the semifinals. Virginia Beach FC 03 Academy I goes for its fourth straight win in State Cup play, having outscored its first three opponents 8-3.

U-16
BRYC Elite Academy ECNL vs. Loudoun 02 Red
1:00 p.m. on Field 1
After finishing as finalists at the U-15 level last year, BRYC Elite Academy will look to return to the title match with a win this weekend, following 2-0 and 4-1 wins over Virginia Rush 02 and SOCA Charlottesville 02 Elite in the opening rounds. 2016 State Cup semifinalist Loudoun 02 Red blanked Woodbridge SC 1-0 in its opening game, before edging SYA Cardinals 02 Red in penalty kicks to reach the semifinals.
Arlington 02 Red vs. Alexandria 02 Red
1:00 p.m. on Field 2
Arlington 02 Red put up four goals in each of its first two State Cup wins, allowing just one goal along the way. 2016 State Cup semifinalist Alexandria 02 Red followed up a 4-0 rout of Beach FC in the opening game with a thrilling 3-2 overtime win over LMVSC to reach the final four once again.
U-17
McLean 01 Green vs. Virginia Legacy SC 01 CCL Elite
12:00 p.m. on Field 7
Last year’s U-16 State Cup finalist, McLean 01 Green, has been dominant in the tournament this year with an 11-0 goal differential through two games. Virginia Legacy SC saw its 2016 State Cup run end in the semifinals last year, but is also coming off a pair of emphatic wins, outscoring its first two opponents 10-0.
Arlington 01 Red vs. Loudoun 01 Red
12:00 p.m. on Field 8
Reigning U-16 State Cup champion Arlington 01 Red earned a 6-0 rout of Virginia Rush 01 before a hard fought 2-1 win over LMVSC Patriots Red in the second round, and now finds itself one win away from returning to the title match. Loudoun 01 Red has yet to allow a goal in the tournament, entering the weekend coming off back-to-back shutout victories.

U-18
McLean 00 Green vs. Virginia Rush 00/99
11:00 a.m. on Field 2
McLean 00 Green enters the semifinals with 11 goals scored and just one allowed, while Virginia Rush is coming off a thrilling penalty kick win over Arlington 00 Red to reach the final four.
SOCA Charlottesville 00 Elite vs. BRYC Elite Academy ECNL

The 2016 Virginia State Cup U-17 champion, SOCA Charlottesville 00 Elite, has emerged with multiple goal wins in each of its first two games this year, outscoring opponents 7-1. Meanwhile, BRYC Elite Academy ECNL is the only one out of the 21 U-18 teams in the State Cup to not allow a goal so far, entering this weekend with a 10-0 scoring margin.
U-19
BRYC Elite Academy ECNL v. Fredericksburg FC 99 Black

Defending U-18 Virginia State Cup champion BRYC Elite Academy ECNL has netted four goals in each of its first two games this year, conceding just one along the way. Fredericksburg FC 99 Black overpowered DCPDA Liberty 99 in its opening match, before defeating 2016 semifinalist SYA Cardinals 99 Red 3-2 in a hard fought battle to earn a spot in the semis.
Loudoun 99 Red vs. FC Richmond Magic 99

After advancing all the way to the State Cup final at the U-18 level last year, Loudoun 99 Red has overpowered each of its first two opponents by 6-0 scorelines this year. FC Richmond Magic 99 has racked up 14 goals in its first three games, and its coming off back-to-back clean sheets on the defensive side.
