By Jimmy LaRoue

The fall 2012 Washington Area Girls Soccer League season is set to close this weekend, with some division races decided and others up for grabs going into the final weekend.

In U-12 Division D, SYA Cardinals 00 White East (7-0-1, 22 pts.) can still tie for the top spot in points with TSC Blitz Ajax (8-0-1, 25 pts.) should it win against third-place Loudoun 00G Black (7-1-0, 21 pts.).

Chantilly Santos has clinched the U-12 Division G title with a 9-0-0 mark and a +47 goal differential. While six of the division’s 10 teams still have games to play over the weekend, they are playing for final placement and can’t catch Santos.

SAC United Blue Premier has clinched U-12 Division J with a 7-0-1 record and is four points ahead of second place Loudoun 00G White with one game left in the season. The division concludes play this weekend.

In U-12 Division L, NVSC Jr. Majestics 00 has a chance to win the title outright with a win over ABGC Xtreme 2000 White Sunday. Majestics have outscored opponents 62-1 in eight games. They’re tied with McLean United Green (8-1-0, 24 pts.), who have outscored teams by a similarly striking 50-4 margin.

One game remains in U-12 Division N, with Waldorf SC 00 Orange (7-0-1, 22 pts.) assured of first place, while the U-12 Division O season is complete, with WSC CASA 00 (8-0-1, 25 pts.) winning the title by a single point over SAC United Premier White (8-1-0, 24 pts.).

In U-12 Division S, Waldorf SC 00 Black (8-0-0, 24 pts.) has clinched first place, with six of its 10 teams in action one last time this weekend.

SEVP Lasers have taken the U-12 Division V title with an 8-0-2 record, with a few teams settling final placements over the weekend.

In U-13 Division 1, Freestate North Red (6-1-3, 21 pts.) closed out its season with a 3-0 win over Lee-Mount Vernon SC Patriots Red at Franconia Park, clinching third place. VYS Patriots Black (8-1-1, 25 pts.) has already clinched the division title, while SAC United Premier (7-2-1, 22 pts.) has clinched second.

U-13 Division 2 is up for grabs heading into Sunday’s final day of play, with the top two teams–FSC Premier (7-0-1, 22 pts.) and McLean Real Green (7-1-0, 21 pts.)–going up against one another.

Crofton A3 Ponies (7-0-1, 22 pts.) have clinched the U-13 Division 3 title with one game to play.

PWSI Courage 99 White (6-1-1, 19 pts.) has clinched no worse than a tie for first place in U-13 Division 5B heading into the final weekend of play. ODSC Hawks (5-1-1, 16 pts.) can tie on points with a win over Olney Galaxy Sunday.

The race for the U-13 Division 5E title will go down to the final game, as Alexandria United White (5-1-1, 16 pts.) leads Freestate Freedom White (5-2-0, 15 pts.) by a single point.

Similarly, the U-13 Division 5J title is up for grabs with everyone on the schedule for one more game Sunday, and the top two teams–Laurel Academy Premier 99 (7-1-0, 21 pts.) and MRM Legend (6-0-2, 20 pts.) going head-to-head. DC Stoddert Red Metros 99 (6-1-1, 19 pts.) has a mathematical chance to tie on points should it win Sunday and the match with the top two clubs ends in a tie. A win for either Laurel or MRM Legend would clinch the division title.

While the top three places for U-14 Division 1 are secure, with ASA Azzurri having clinched first place with one match remaining against Reston, a few places are left to be settled.

In U-15 Division 1, Herndon Freedom (9-0-1, 28 pts.) has a commanding lead and has already clinched the division title.

In U-15 Division 5 White, Waldorf SC 97 Orange (7-0-1, 22 pts.) clinched the division title, with most of the other teams playing Sunday for final placement.

Four U-16 Division 4 teams have a mathematical chance of finishing no worse than a first-place tie on points depending on the outcome of games this weekend. Stafford Revolution 96G White (5-2-3, 18 pts.) has finished its season, but the rest of the division still has a game remaining, including current second place CSA Spirit (4-0-5, 17 pts.), third place VSA Heat Gold (4-1-4, 16 pts.) and fourth place ASC Radical (4-2-3, 15 pts.).

Culpeper Comets U-16 (8-0-0, 24 pts.) has clinched the U-16 Division 5R championship, but teams will be playing for final placement this weekend. Herndon Comets White has clinched the U-17 Division 2 title, finishing its season with a 6-0-2 record as just two teams in the division have yet to conclude their season.

U-17 Division 3 is not quite settled, as three teams could potentially finish with 18 points, though DAA Lady Gators (6-1-0, 18 pts.) has the current lead with one game remaining. In U-17 Division 5, Reston Shock (7-0-0, 21 pts.) has clinched the division title heading into the final weekend.

ODFC CLash can clinch an outright U-18 Division 4 title with a win or tie against VIST BC United (5-1-0, 16 pts.) Saturday. Otherwise, VIST BC United or FCSC Fireballs could potentially create a three-way tie on points depending on the outcome of this weekend’s games.

Six of the seven teams in U-18 Division 5 have one match remaining with the division remaining unsettled. Alexandria Titans lead with a 5-2-0 record and 15 points, but Winchester United 94G (4-2-1, 13 pts.) and FPYC Blue Angels (4-2-1, 13 pts.).
