WAGS: Freestate U-13s with two wins sterling weekend

Freestate Soccer Alliance North Red scored two wins over the weekend to move to a 4-0-2 record and strengthened its hold on first place in the Washington Area Girls Soccer League’s Under-13 Division 1.

Freestate picked up a 2-0 win over ASC Elite 99 Saturday and a 5-2 win over NVSC Jr. Majestics 99 Sunday.

Four teams in the division are close behind with three wins, including SAC United Premier and SYC Storm White, who are both 3-1-1, while VYS Patriots Black and CUGI United 99 are also 3-1-0.

In U-14 Division 1, ASC Arsenal picked up its second win of the season in as many games, defeating NVSC Jr. Majestics 98 4-0 Sunday. ASA Azzurri, meanwhile, has also yet to lose, winning 2-0 Saturday over VYS Thunder Black and playing VYS Thunder Gold to a scoreless tie. SAC Premier Blue is also without a loss at 3-0-2, winning a close 3-2 game over VYS Thunder Black.

Herndon Freedom won its second straight game in league play, defeating FSC Xtreme 4-0, moving its record to 4-0-1 in U-15 Division 1.

In High School Division 1, Lee-Mount Vernon SC Patriots lost its first of the season, 2-1 against Herndon Curve, who moved to 1-1-0 in winning its first game of the season.

Most teams play again this weekend before taking the Columbus Day holiday (Oct. 6-7) weekend off.
