WAGS Tournament: Day 2 wrap

The opening day of the WAGS Rael Vodicka Memorial Tournament in suburbs of the nation’s capital was quite the thrill, with several great stories. Day two was no different, with starlets again taking center stage. Some surprising results took place, some girls set themselves apart with others and college coaches were still on a hunt for top talent. Here’ s a rundown of what took place.

  • One Maryland star is gaining a lot of interest. After a poor first game, she stepped it up in the second.
  • An all-around talent faster than Usain Bolt? Really? David Pettican, the FC Europa coach, says so.
  • Drexel has emerged as a very solid program on the east coast, fighting for the CAA crown. While in the middle of the season, an assistant for the Dragons aimed to build on the talent his team has by checking out WAGS.
  • Championship Monday: Teams are playing for titles, while the older age groups continue to showcase themselves to the college coaches in attendance.
  • The sights and sounds of this year’s WAGS Tournament had a very pleased WAGS president Kathy Diapoulis expressing satisfaction with this year’s tournament going into its final day, and we learned
  • More sights: A Day 2 photo gallery of some skilled and intense action Sunday in temperatures that were about 25 degrees cooler than the tournament’s opening day.
