BOYDS, Md. (Via Washington Spirit) – The Washington Spirit professional women’s soccer club and Calvert Soccer Association (CSA) have renewed their Spirit Youth Club Partnership for 2016, the historic fourth season of the National Women’s Soccer League.

“We are pleased to once again partner with the Washington Spirit, providing opportunities for our players to interact with those at the highest level and to aspire to such wonderful role models,” said Mark McCormick, President of Calvert Soccer Association. “We hope to continue to expand the relationship into the future to include even more of those opportunities.”

Spirit Youth Club Partnerships were formed to create a unique relationship between local clubs and the professional women’s team, with the objective of providing valuable experiences and services to area youth soccer players, club staff, and parents.

“The support for professional women’s soccer shown by Calvert Soccer has been amazing, and we’re thrilled to have them back,” said Washington Spirit President Chris Hummer. “They understand how important it is for young players to watch the game in person if they want to develop to their own fullest potential, and they understand there are no better role models in the world of sports than the women of the NWSL.”

This relationship sees the Spirit providing CSA players and families with unique development opportunities through on-field clinics, special access to its professional staff, and discounted tickets for all members to the 2016 regular season at the Maryland SoccerPlex.

“I’m excited for CSA girl’s program to be once again participating with the Washington Spirit’s youth club partnership program,” said Ray Mahar, CSA Sports Liaison. “Last year we had over 100 girls train one night in June with the Spirit players in Calvert County, and I look forward to it again this year.”

The Washington Spirit returns to the friendly confines of Maureen Hendricks Field at the Maryland SoccerPlex on Saturday, May 7. Kickoff is 7 p.m.
