Wofford College names Elissa Post as new women’s soccer head coach

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford College has announced that Elissa Post has been named as the new head coach of the women’s soccer program. Post has been an assistant for the Terriers for the past two seasons, serving as the associate head coach last season.

“I feel humbled and absolutely honored to be able to take over a program that is filled with fantastic women,” said Post. “I want to personally thank President Samhat, Richard Johnson and Elizabeth Rabb for believing in me and allowing me the opportunity to take these next steps. I am looking forward to continuing to grow the program while simultaneously growing our student-athlete experience.”

As an assistant coach, Post helped guide the Terriers to one of their best seasons in recent history in 2022. After a 5-12-2 mark in 2021, Post moved up to the associate head coach role and lifted the squad to a 9-8-3 clip with a 3-4-2 SoCon record. It was the first winning season for the program since 2013 (8-5-6) and most overall wins since claiming 10 triumphs in 2000. With seven shutout wins in 2022, the Terriers tallied their highest number of clean sheets since eight in 2013.

Post came to Wofford in 2021 after three seasons at Kansas State under head coach Mike Dibbini. Her responsibilities with the program included video analysis and scouting, on-field instruction with K-State’s student-athletes and assisting at K-State’s various camps and clinics. With the Wildcats, Post helped the squad to its best Big 12 finish in program history. The program had its first-ever NWSL draftee during her time there.

Prior to her time in Manhattan, Post served as an assistant coach at Emporia State for 2016-18. With the Hornets, she was responsible for facilitating practice plans, conditioning and recovery of student-athletes while also coordinating recruiting efforts. Eleven players earned MIAA All-Academic honors during her time with Emporia State while seven were selected to the All-MIAA Team.

Before her time at Emporia State, Post served as a youth club coach with Sporting Kaw Valley in Manhattan, as she helped with the development of the U12 boys and the high school girls programs.

Post also worked as a KSYSA staff assistant coach for the 2001-02 girls program. She also served as the junior varsity girls head coach and an assistant varsity coach with Manhattan High School in two stints with the program, the first from 2014-16 and the second in 2018.

She is certified with NSCAA goalkeeper level 1, USSF national C, D and E licenses and NFHS fundamentals of coaching, concussion certified and first aid certified.

Post graduated from Kansas State in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education with an emphasis in social studies. In 2018, Post completed her Master of Science degree in HPER from Emporia State. She and her wife, Felicity, have a daughter, Serenity, and a dog, Luna.

She is the sixth head coach in Wofford women’s soccer history, which dates back to 1994.
