Xavier University women’s soccer announces recruiting class

CINCINNATI – Xavier University women’s soccer announced the addition of a deep freshman class, featuring 15 players, for the fall 2020 season.

The Musketeers look to build on a record-breaking season where Xavier claimed the BIG EAST regular season and tournament titles and collected the program’s first NCAA Tournament win.


Grace Blumfeldt

Blumfeldt is a forward from North Ridgeville, Ohio with experience playing for North Ridgeville High School and Cleveland Force Soccer Club.

During the 2018-19 season with Cleveland Force’s US Soccer Development Academy squad, Blumfeldt started in 26 of 29 matches, scoring a team-high 23 goals and earning a spot on the Midwest Regional Team.

Blumfeldt is the daughter of Chris and Shawna Blumfeldt. She has four siblings, Adele, Rachel, Gloria and Anna.


Ashley Bowles

Bowles is a goalkeeper from Plymouth, Mich., who comes to Xavier with experience playing for Plymouth High School and the Michigan Jaguars.

Headed into her senior season, Bowles has played three years of varsity soccer at Plymouth, with a cumulative GAA of 0.77 for a squad that has won 54 matches in the past three seasons. As a junior, she was named All-State Honorable Mention, as well as All Region and All-District after the team was State Runners-Up.

Bowles plans to major in Exercise Science at Xavier. She is the daughter of Chad and Maria Bowles. She has two younger sisters, Gracie and Bailey.


Victoria Caparos

Caparos is a midfielder from Northbrook, Ill., with experience playing for Glenbrook North High School, as well as FC United Academy and Eclipse North ECNL.

With Glenbrook North, Caparos is a three year varsity starter at midfield for a two-time conference champion program in the Central Suburban League on a team that collected 25 wins in a two year span.

Caparos plans to major in Sport Management at Xavier. She is the daughter of Annette and Yianny Caparos. Yianny played college soccer at Illinois State. She has two siblings, Demi and Yianny Jr.


Lexi Czerwien

Czerwien is a midfielder from Rochester Hills, Mich., who joins Xavier from Rochester Hills High School with experience playing for Nationals Soccer Club.

With her club team, Czerwien is a two time Regional and National Champion (2016/2017) playing for the clubs Development Academy squad. In 2017, her club also went undefeated. In 2019, the Nationals Soccer Club Development Academy team advanced to the National Quarterfinals.

Czerwien plans to major in Exercise Science at Xavier. She is the daughter of Lori and Christien Czerwien. Her father played football at Hillsdale College. She has two younger brothers, Cameran and Chace.


Campbell George

George is a midfielder/defender from  Grand Rapids, Mich., where she played for Midwest United FC.

George has played club at Midwest United for 12 seasons, and is a six time US Soccer Development Training Academy Invitee. She is a three-time captain for a squad that has won the National League Regional Championship as well as the US Soccer Development Academy Conference Championship.

George plans on majoring in Business at Xavier. She is the daughter of Justin and Stacey George. Her father played basketball at Hope College. She has two siblings, Peyton and Kendall.


Olivia Lawson

Lawson is a midfielder/forward from Louisville, Ky. Where she played for Christian Academy of Louisville and Kentucky Fire Juniors.

At Christian Academy of Louisville, Lawson was a four-year member of the varsity team, capping off her career with a 48-goal senior season as the team went 15-0-2. In each of her four years, the team won the district championship. Lawson earned first team All-Region in 2017 and 2018 and was named First Team All-State in 2018 as well.

Lawson plans to study pre-dentistry at Xavier. She is the daughter of Greg and Melissa Lawson. Her father played football at Centre College. She has two older brothers, Luke and Will.


Elise Le

le
Le is a midfielder/forward from Montgomery, Ohio, where she played for Ursuline Academy and Ohio Elite.

At Ursuline Academy, Le joined the varsity squad as a freshman, earning All-City honors during her junior year. With Ohio Elite, Le was part of the team that made the ECNL Final Four in 2019, earning “Player to Watch” status in 2018-19 and earning a spot on the Ohio Valley Conference “Best XI” in 2017-18.

Le is the daughter of Anita and Toan Le. Her mother played college basketball at Marquette. She has five siblings, Sophia, Gabriella, Marissa, Mathias and Rogelio.


Taylor Molli

Molli is a defender from Gahanna, Ohio with experience playing for Gahanna Lincoln High School, as well as Ohio Premier ECNL.

Molli is a four-year member of varsity at Gahanna Lincoln, and a two-time captain. Molli was named to the Ohio Capital Conference First Team following her junior season and was named to the Ohio All-State Second Team as a senior.

With Ohio Premier, Molli was a National Team finalist in 2015, an ECNL Conference Champion three times and national semifinalists in 2018.

Molli plans to major in Psychology at Xavier. She is the daughter of Stacy and Bart Molli and has one sibling, Brenton.


Morgan Pentz

Pentz is a midfielder from Broadview Heights, Ohio, coming to Xavier from Walsh Jesuit High School with experience playing club for Cleveland FC.

Pentz was a four-year varsity starter at Walsh Jesuit, with 50 goals and 35 assists for her career for a team that went 62-4-6. Individually, Pentz was named the 2-19 North Coast League Offensive MVP, as well as GASSCA 1st Team and Top Drawer Soccer All-State after earning team MVP in 2018.

With Cleveland FC, she was a six-year starter for a team that won seven consecutive State Cup Championships. In 2019 Pentz was named to the 2019 USYS GLC Best XI as the team went on to win the USYS Nation Championship, along with the 2018/19 National League Bracket.

Pentz plans to major in Biomedical Sciences at Xavier. She is the daughter of Joel and Maureen Pentz, who both played collegiate soccer at Mercyhurst University. She has a younger brother, Braeden, and younger sister, Reagan.


Maddie Reed

Reed is a defender from Louisville, Ky., with experience playing for Assumption High School, as well as club experience with United FC Internationals and Kentucky Fire Juniors.

With Assumption, Reed was a four-year varsity member with 11 goals and six assists for her career for a team that won over 60 games and were four-time district champions in her four seasons. Reed earned 2019 All-American from All-State and Top Drawer Soccer and was named All-Region twice.

With her club teams, Reed won over 50 matches from 2016-19, winning the State Championship in 2018-19.

Reed plans to major in Psychology at Xavier. She is the daughter of Jerald and Diane Reed, and has one younger sibling, Carson.


Simone Rivard-Roberts

Rivard-Roberts is a forward from Dublin, Ohio with experience playing for Dublin Coffman High School and Ohio Premier ECNL.

Rivard-Roberts is a four-year starter for the varsity squad and a two-time captain at Dublin Coffman, leading the squad in scoring in her first two seasons. She was named to the All-Ohio Capital Conference First Team twice. At Coffman, she was also an Ohio State Champion with the track team, winning the 4×200 in 2017.

With her club squad, Rivard-Roberts was a two-time ECNL conference champions, playing in two ECNL National Semifinals and winning the U14 ECNL regular season National Championship.

Rivard-Roberts plans to major in Political Science at Xavier. She is the daughter of Andrew Roberts and Mimi Rivard. Her father played soccer at Brandeis University. She has two younger siblings, André and Derara.


Alaina Sullivan

Sullivan is a defender from Cincinnati, coming to Xavier with experience playing for Anderson High School and Cincinnati Development Academy.

At Anderson, Sullivan was a four-year varsity starter, earning All-Conference in each of her four seasons for a team that totaled over 40 wins during her career. She was also a three-time state qualifier in track and field at Anderson.

In her three years with Cincinnati Development Academy, Sullivan earned a spot on the Great Lakes Conference Best XI.

Sullivan plans to major in Exercise Science. She is the daughter of Brad and Melissa Sullivan. Brad is a former Xavier men’s soccer player.


Mackenzie Tucker

Tucker is a forward/midfielder from Versailles, Ky., with experience playing for West Jessamine High School as well as club experience with United 1996 FC, Lexington FC and the KY Olympic Development Program.

Tucker was a four-year starter at West Jessamine, leading the team in scorer from her sophomore year on, scoring over 80 goals during her high school career. She earned All-District in each of her final three seasons, earning All-State as an upperclassman.

With her club team, Tucker was twice the leading goal scorer for a team that won the State Cup Championships in 2018 and 2019.

Tucker plans to major in Exercise Science at Xavier. She is the daughter of Robin and Robert Tucker. Her father played college soccer at Union College. She has two siblings, Tylan and Ella.


Sonia Vargas

Vargas is a forward from Hillard, Ohio, with experience playing for Hillard Davidson and Ohio Premier ECNL.

With Davidson, Vargas was a four-year member of varsity who scored over 50 goals during her high school career for a team that won over 40 games during her career. Vargas earned All-Ohio Capital Conference in each of her four high school seasons and was named All-District and All-State during her career as well.

With Ohio Premier, Vargas was part of the 2018 Ohio valley Conference Champions who placed third at Nationals.

Vargas plans to major in Actuarial Science at Xavier. She is the daughter of Carlos and Diah Vargas.


Abby Weller

Weller is a goalkeeper from Delaware, Ohio with experience playing for Rutherford B. Hayes High School and club experience with Barca Academy and ODP Ohio South.

Weller was a three-year varsity goalkeeper at Rutherford B. Hayes, earning All-Ohio Capital Conference in each of those three seasons and was named All-District in her junior and senior years. Weller was also a member of the varsity basketball team. With Baraca Academy, Weller was a team captain from 2017-20.

Weller plans to major in Exercise Science at Xavier. She is the daughter of Matt and Julie Weller and has two siblings, Hannah and Jack.
