Yale women’s soccer unveils 7-player signing class

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Sarah Martinez, The Loring Family Head Coach of Women’s Soccer, has added a strong Class of 2024 to the Yale roster.

Laila Booker, Tanner Cahalan, Nikki Debayo-Doherty, Kayla Parsons, Meredith Phillips and Tina Teik all bring strong credentials both on and off the field. In addition, Martinez will welcome goalkeeper Maya Bellomo, a transfer from Baylor.

“I am beyond thrilled to welcome our 2020 recruiting class to Yale University and our women’s soccer program,” Martinez said. “After a successful 2019 campaign, we are eager for these seven student-athletes to arrive on campus and add to the strong culture and community that is Yale women’s soccer. We pride ourselves in creating a locker room full of empowering, intelligent and successful young women and this group will continue to elevate us both on and off the field.”

Notes: Transfer from Baylor… Made two appearances for the Bears in 2019… Played the second half of the season opener against Northwestern State before earning the start at Drake.

High School: Played one year at Rochester Adams High School.

Club: Played three years for the Michigan Hawks… Attended ECNL National training camp in the summer of 2017… Honored as one of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy Best XI for the Central Conference after Nationals in 2018.

ODP: Played on the Michigan ODPr team in 2016 and won the Midwest Region ECNL U16 title in 2016-17.

Personal: Daughter of Ben-Jon and Jill Bellomo … Member of the French and National Honor Society … Is an accomplished artist … Volunteered in a number of charities, including food banks, soup kitchens and charity fundraisers.

High School: Earned all-state recognition as a senior at Our Lady of Good Counsel… Two-time all-conference selection… Four-year varsity letterwinner… Team captured WCAC Championship in 2018 and 2019… Our Lady of Good Counsel posted a 30-3-5 overall record over her final two seasons… Recipient of the team’s Coaches Award in 2017, Unsung Hero Award in 2018 and Coach “I” Award in 2019.

Club: Played seven years for Maryland United… Team captain from 2017 to 2020… PDP Regional Selection in 2018, 2019… Club was North American Cup Champions in 2016 and a Maryland State Cup Finalist in 2014.

Personal: Daughter of Bill Booker and Sonya White… Brother Quint plays AAU basketball… Performed at the Kennedy Center in sixth grade… Participated in many community service projects as a part of Jack and Jill from the age of 4.
