University of Maryland men’s soccer unveils spring schedule

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (Via University of Maryland) – University of Maryland men’s soccer head coach Sasho Cirovski has announced the team’s 2019 spring schedule, which features three matches at Ludwig Field.

“As usual, we have put together a very demanding spring schedule to challenge our returning players as we start to sculpt the identity of our 2019 team.” Cirovski said.

Maryland’s slate kicks off Sunday, March 3 at noon when local foe West Virginia travels to Ludwig Field. The Terps will then make the short trip to Chester, Pa., to face a squad made up Philadelphia Union reserves and United Soccer League side Bethlehem Steel players at the Talen Energy Practice Fields. The match kicks off at noon on Sunday, March 31.

The Terps return home on Sunday, April 7 when they face new DC United affiliated USL squad Loudoun United at 1 p.m. Maryland will once again take on Bethlehem Steel on Saturday, April 27 at 1 p.m., this time at Ludwig Field. That match will take place on Maryland Day, so fans should plan accordingly when traveling to College Park.

Maryland’s final match of the spring will occur on Saturday, May 4 at West Point as the Terps travel to face Army with kickoff set for 2 p.m. Army is led by former Maryland player and assistant coach Russell Payne. Former Maryland standout Alex Shinsky is also on staff for the Black Knights.

The Terps enter the spring after capturing the 2018 NCAA National Championship. Starters Paul Bin, Eli Crognale, Johannes Bergmann, Ben Di Rosa and William James Herve all return along with key reserves Matt Di Rosa, Eric Matzelevich, Vinicius Lansade, Brett St. Martin and Justin Gielen.
