(Via VSA) – Virginia Soccer Association (VSA) has announced the addition of Nick Rich to the staff as Director of Technical Development and Camps. Rich previously coached for VSA, before taking the role of Player Development Director at Fredericksburg Football Club.

“We are very excited to welcome Nick Rich back,” said  Matt Lacey, Executive Director. “He is a passionate person who loves the game of soccer. He is driven to improve himself and others around him which we feel will help the club move forward. He will be implementing a new technical training program that will be a heavy part of our program moving forward. We look forward to the impact he will have on the players.”

Prior to coaching, Rich’s playing background is extensive, starting at Chelsea’s youth academy from U7-U14 and representing the England School Boys U18 squad. Arriving in the USA in 2008, Rich played at Tusculum College and then transferred to VCU where he wore the captain’s armband for the Rams. He also had a spell playing professionally in the Costa Rica Premier Division and won an NPSL National title with RVAFC in 2013.

“I am very happy to have Nick back at the club as a full-time staff member,” said Dale Parker, VSA Director of Coaching. “I have known Nick personally for a number of years and he brings a very high level of football experience that will be invaluable for our young players. We have already seen a positive impact on the teams he coaches, and we are looking forward to him having this effect on more of our players at the club.”

Rich’s day to day role will consist of increasing the technical proficiency of all players at the club through our Director of Coaching sessions, introduction of the new Technical Training Program, and online technical video content to inspire players to practice at home. He will also be overseeing the VSA camp program.

“I couldn’t be happier to be back with VSA and continue to help players within the club improve in every aspect of their game,” Rich said. “The club’s vision and commitment to excellence makes it a fantastic environment for me to continue to learn and develop as a coach and a leader. I really value the support and guidance from all of the staff and coaches and want to thank Matt and Dale for this opportunity.”

Rich currently holds a USSF C License and USSF National Youth License.
