Gabriella Rusek – Defender
Quickstrike 02 U-14 Girls
NYCSL League Play vs. FC South Shore
Gabby keeps the back four organized verbally while reading the game and defending well individually however she is constantly intercepting passes and counter attacking. She can take three or so players on at a time and her distribution in to the weak side run to create opportunities for us to finish in the attacking third are excellent! She takes most corner kicks and is lethal on dead balls. She is a threat any where in he field and can easily play multiple positions.
Madi McGuire – Midfielder
Quickstrike 02 U-14 Girls
NYCSL League Play vs. FC South Shore
Madi is consistent in helping the team maintain possession. She rarely gives the ball away as a HCM. She gets in to gaps to attach and spray the ball forward. She switches the point of attack and she speeds up as well as slows down the tempo. She is new to the team and has settled right in.
Brady Bartee – Midfielder
SYC Lions Black U-15 Girls
WAGS League Play vs. Freedom SC
Brady Bartee closed out a perfect 8-0-0 season for the Division 1 WAGS Champions with two outstanding assists that led her team to a 2-1 victory over the second place Freedom Soccer Club team. Throughout the game Brady was creating havoc for the FSC defenders with creative penetrating runs which unlocked the defense. Additionally, Brady’s lightning speed and explosiveness was the key differentiator in the game. Brady’s selfish play the past several games has paid huge dividends in Sunday’s final season game for the undefeated SYC Lions Black.
Lauren Tanner – Defender
SYC Lions Black U-15 Girls
WAGS League Play vs. Freedom SC
Offense wins games and Defense wins championships. Lauren Tanner wrapped up her season undefeated 8-0-0 WAGS Div 1 season with a stellar performance at center back. Lauren’s physical 5ft 10in nature can be intimidating for attacking forwards to deal with. Lauren was very decisive in her defending play that led to her teams win in their final game of the season. Standing up the offensive attack, making timely tackles, winning key balls out of the air, and making critical attacking runs forward were all critical parts of her game on Sunday.
Tori Baris – Midfielder
Quickstrike 98 U-18 Girls
Walkill College Showcase
Tori moved with endless amount of energy through the midfield as she linked play from the backs to the strikers. She maintained a quick tempo in transition to attack. She often got in behind th backs of our opponent and maintained a constant threat.
Mia Barringer – Forward
McLean 99 Green U-16 Girls
CCL League Play vs. LMVSC and Loudoun
In CCL league games over the weekend co-captain led the team with energy and verve. Playing in her normal role as a forward but also filling in as a defender when needed due to injuries she netted 2 goals and an assist for the McLean 99 Green team that scored 6 goals over two games and are current Virginia State Cup semifinalists.
Will Wagner – Defender
VSA NPL U-14 Boys
VPL vs. NVSC
Playing as a center back Will has impressed all season with his ability and composure in possession, as well as his commanding defensive performances. This weekend, Will chipped in on the opposite end with a great finish to level the game at 1-1 right before half time. VSA went on to win the game 3-1. Will has already represented at State/National level and his ability is being recognized by many.
Ethan McGrath – Goalkeeper
VSA NPL U-17 Boys
VPL vs. NVSC
Ethan saved a PK with 5 minutes to go to preserve a tie and lead at the top of the NPL. In addition he had a great performance organizing a strong defensive performance from the team. His distribution and handling was first class and he helped convey a strong feeling of stability from the defense.
