Which Clubs Have The Most USMYNT Players? (June 2023-June 2024)
In the second part of our series looking at the roster composition of the U.S. Youth National Team system, SoccerWire has published a full breakdown of the youth men’s program.
Similar to our reporting with the U.S. Women’s Youth National Team program, SoccerWire has accumulated all of the USMYNT rosters from June 2023 to June 1, 2024 to see which clubs have had the most success in getting players called up. The data includes players from the U14-U23 teams.
Of the 85 clubs around the world that have had at least one USMYNT player call-up, the Los Angeles Galaxy lead all teams with 18 call-ups. Chicago Fire FC, Los Angeles FC, and New York Red Bulls follow closely behind with 16 players each having received a call-up in the last year. Rounding out the top five is the Philadelphia Union (15) both of whom have marked success in terms of getting their Academy players call-ups and on the field in MLS NEXT play.
Notes:
- Only National Camps – featuring players from all over the country training at a central location – are eligible for inclusion.
- Regional ID Camps – exclusively featuring players from a single region – are not included.
- Players are counted as members of clubs that they were with at the time of each call-up. If they have since moved to a different club, they are still counted on the club that they were on at the time of roster selection.
- Players who had previously signed Homegrown Contracts prior to their first appearance are included.
- Players who represent international clubs are included as well.
- College players who had already graduated high school at the time of their call-ups do not count toward their youth club’s total.
- Of the players that have been called up to represent the USYNT over the past year, 70 of them are currently signed to Major League Soccer Homegrown Player contracts or previously had signed HGP contracts.
- In addition to playing for the USMYNT, 19 players have also gone on to play for the senior USMNT. Those players are in bold below next to their corresponding team.
- Players from both the Pan-American Games and the Olympic qualifiers and friendlies were included with the exception of players over the age of 23.
- Although players who earned their first call-up while playing in college are not included on this list, it should be noted that one players does fit into this category. Duke University (Julian Eyestone)
- Roster data runs through June 5, 2024.
