Which clubs have produced the most U.S. Men’s Youth National Team players? (2022-2023)
In the second part of our series looking at the roster composition of the U.S. Youth National Team system, SoccerWire has published a full breakdown of the youth men’s program.
Similar to our reporting with the U.S. Women’s Youth National Team program, SoccerWire has accumulated all of the USMYNT rosters since the start of 2022 to see which clubs have had the most success in getting players called up. The data includes players from the U14-U20 teams, dating back to January 2022.
Of the 82 clubs around the world that have had at least one USMYNT player call-up, the Philadelphia Union and Los Angeles Football Club lead all sides with 20 call-ups. San Jose Earthquakes follow right behind with 17 call-ups, and Orlando City SC clock in at fourth with 16 players.
Rounding out the top five is Real Salt Lake, who has produced 15 USYNT players over the last two years.
Notes:
- Only National Camps – featuring players from all over the country training at a central location – are eligible for inclusion.
- Regional ID Camps – exclusively featuring players from a single region – are not included.
- Players are counted as members of clubs that they were with at the time of each call-up. If they have since moved to a different club, they are still counted on the club that they were on at the time of roster selection.
- Players who had previously signed Homegrown Contracts prior to their first appearance are included.
- Players who represent international clubs are included as well.
- College players who had already graduated high school at the time of their call-ups do not count toward their youth club’s total.
- Of the players that have been called up to represent the USYNT over the past two years, 65 of them are currently signed to Major League Soccer Homegrown Player contracts.
- Although players who earned their first call-up while playing in college are not included on this list, it should be noted that six players fit into this category. Duke University (Kamran Acito and Nicholas Pariano), Wake Forest University (Samuel Jones and Roald Mitchell), UNC-Chapel Hill (Sam Williams), and UCLA (Tarun Karunmanchi) all had players called up for the U20 National Team between 2022 and 2023.
- Roster data runs through July 2023.
